KJ is a singer-songwriter and composer from Minneapolis, Minneapolis. Now based in Lincoln, she has been writing music for around five years. Whether she’s channeling the more energetic side of her music with electric guitar and a MIDI controller or playing a laid-back acoustic set, KJ tries to capture the vibe of whatever environment she’s playing in. Drawing from influences like Bright Eyes and Phantogram, she balances the transparency of rock and folk with the hook-based nature of pop. Her songs often revolve around the struggles that come with the long journey to self-acceptance.
